Agreed terminology is essential for communication, shared research and joint action, especially at the international level. This is why a dictionary is so important, because it allows a quick and easy access to knowledge, in particular terms and concepts that support the study of Science.

This Dictionary is primarily aimed at supporting secondary students who are studying Geography or related subjects such as Earth Sciences. Consists of a list of definitions of terms and concepts used in the school environment, with accessible explanations adapted to the student’s age characteristics.

    This document is structured in six sections, reflecting the nature of the terminology and the variety of areas of study, namely:
  • Planet Earth and its Geometry;
  • Meteorology and Climatology;
  • Cartography and Topography;
  • Geomorphology and Orography;
  • Hydrology;
  • Geology.
