“Globalization of contemporary world” is a common phrase used nowadays, and in the context of this globalized world in which the borders of the states are penetrable, man has to be ready anytime to meet other communities which have different cultures, different systems of social and moral values.

The transnational approach of the projects allows us precisely the communication between different communities for growing the respect for the human diversity, analyzing some different educational systems and developing the opportunity of realizing an exchange of good practice in the field of Geography.

Because Geography studies the natural elements and the interaction between them, the transnational approach allows the analysis of the integrity and of the originality of the geographical landscapes and of the natural phenomena from different geographical regions (Mediterranean, Atlantic, Nordic, continental landscapes). Moreover, Meteorology, which can be considered a "science without borders”, is much better studied in an international context by involving project partners from different climatic areas.

In schools, Geography is mainly studied at a theoretical level, without many practical applications. Students do not give a great importance to this subject unless they can choose it as an exam subject. Usually, students consider a subject as attractive and they study it with interest, only if they see practical, interesting and unusual applications.

The purpose of the project is to attract the students’ interest on the practical and interdisciplinary applications of Geography. Students and teachers will discover together the interdisciplinary applications of Geography and meteorology in a special way.

Meteorology is a science studying atmospheric phenomena and allowing short-term weather forecasting. Forecasts are particularly important in the temperate region where we are because of the atmospheric disturbances that may occur. They offer useful information for daily life, given the fact that man’s interference on the environment is sometimes uncontrolled with direct consequences over the physical estate of the atmosphere. The numerous and even strange changes of the weather from the past few years, some of them violent, raises the students’ interest who want to understand and to explain the way of creation, the evolution and the manifestation of the phenomena in the lower atmosphere.

It is particularly important to understand meteorological phenomena in order to protect life, property and to increase adaptability and to restore them; therefore we need to understand how this system works: to understand the clouds and winds, to understand the variations of the temperature, the water cycle, the thunder and the lightning, etc.

The challenge for the teacher consists in introducing the experiential learning in the Geography class and studying Meteorology as a science for life. From this point is the teacher's mission to create valuable learning experiences, in terms of formation and education, requiring reflection, which we interpret and generalize and finally realize the transfer and subsequent application. Meteorology is the science that can be learned in school through practical and investigative activities and through transdisciplinary approaches. They may be an example which can be followed by teachers, and in the same time an attractive subject for students, the more so as the weather reports seem to bring real challenges for the future generations.

During the Geography class, the teacher is really efficient when he succeeds to make the student his partner in reaching his objectives. For reaching these objectives, the educational process targets the control of the students’ learning and through the interaction between teaching and learning, education takes place, and the student is involved in understanding the content and he can apply what he has learned.

A new challenge for the teacher, is the introduction during the class of the experimental learning which relies on ’learning to learn’ and determines the ability of organizing the students’ own learning. In this way the teacher has the mission of creating valuable learning experiences, from a forming and educational point of view, over which we have to reflect, and then interpret and generalize, and in the end we realize the transfer and the ulterior application. On a generalized cognitive background they make the most of the entire ethical and social knowledge and they reveal the human and social meaning of the scientific contents, they choose the adequate strategies, give the proper attention to the selection, to the base, to the actuality, and to the materialization of the taught knowledge, a better adjustment to the students’ characteristics, to their life experience, their real possibilities and motivations.

Geography, through its interdisciplinary approach, fosters the formation of skills, habits and attitudes; some geographical habits can be used

We are tempted to believe that all the important things that make the matter of study of Geography were already discovered and defined. Meteorology is as unpredictable as the weather since the nature is unpredictable and in constant transformation. However, nature, is unpredictable, and is constantly transformed being influenced by the intervention of man, who only now has started to realize that the consequences of his own activities can be catastrophic and that he has a responsibility towards the nature that he has been ceaselessly exploited for two millennia. Hence, we approach Geography as our own story, lived by every man; a story about past, present, future, energy, gravity, heights and depths, unleashed or ’obedient’ phenomena, all in a competition that aims to reach balance. We consider that Geography is the world in which we are born, a world of the people and the people of the Earth! We want to create a ’transnational story’ of the constituents of the environment, of people and of the differences between people, to which we want to add the relation between man and nature, a story of the experimental learning, a story lived and written in various languages, religions and ethnic groups.

During the project we will introduce the study of Geography in the circle of experimental learning of Kolb, we will create learning experiences within human communities with their own educational systems from different geographical regions, we will reflect upon them and generalize them, making general conclusions and, in the end we will theorize them, so that we can use them in new learning experiences.

We approach Geography as a challenging science, that generates learning experiences and we intend to create an ‘interdisciplinary Geography’ with terms from geophysical, geometrics and behavioral Geography. We approach meteorology as a science that does not stop at a state’s border, as a science that helps us understand atmospheric phenomena according to which we operate. We analyze some popular beliefs from different regions according to which the physical and behavioral condition of people is influenced by the geographical space which explains in a great measure the profile of a community, of a people developed in certain conditions of terrain, climate and vegetation. We observe and interpret weather phenomena from different geographical regions, but also their inference in the daily life of the community.

We live in a postindustrial society centered on technological upgrading, with an environment that had a lot to suffer because of the man’s actions; the developed countries of Europe are aware of the necessity of a persistent advancement which implies a developing in tune with nature, so that the mending of the environment wouldn’t be excluded from the process of development. Because the damage of the environment has a direct effect on the extreme meteorological phenomena which are becoming more frequent and more violent, and in the last few years we often hear about global warming and the greenhouse effect, we consider necessary the formation of a positive attitude towards the environment among youths, because the environment must be left clean for the future generations. People have to understand that changeable weather that sometimes scares us with its extreme manifestations, is directly linked with the man’s activity that clears the land, pollutes, modifies and uncontrollably destroys the environment.
